Okuda simply called his product "white" and "black." Both use sticky clay, and Okuda explains that he insists on using clay that is not too rough, not too powdery, and of moderate roughness, from the Shigaraki clay workshop. In Japan, most rough clay objects are heavier, but I was surprised to find that his ceramics were lighter than I expected.
