Crafted by Bruno Barr, a cabinetmaker based in Quebec City, this saya for a Bunka-style Japanese knife is made of Canadian hardwood. It showcases the wood’s natural grain, hues, and texture in a simple design featuring the Stay Sharp “S” logo.
The saya is a traditional Japanese rigid sheath designed to protect a knife’s blade when it is not in use. It helps prevent accidental contact with the cutting edge during storage or transport. Its elongated shape and angled tip are tailored to the distinctive profile of Bunka knives.
This collaboration with a local artisan allows us to offer a cutlery accessory made in Quebec from Canadian wood. The grain and natural color variations contribute to the character of each piece.
Compatibility and Care: Compatibility should be verified based on the blade’s dimensions and geometry, as not all Bunka knives have exactly the same profile. It is recommended to always wipe and dry the knife before inserting it into its saya. To preserve the wood, avoid submerging it in water and simply clean it with a slightly damp cloth, then dry it.
