Maku oil is designed for the care of wooden kitchen surfaces and accessories. Supplied by Maku, an artisan based in Saint-Hippolyte, Quebec, it is suitable for cutting boards, butcher blocks, wooden utensils, and the wooden handles of Japanese knives. The bottle contains 250 ml.

Applying the oil helps nourish the wood and prevent it from drying out over time due to washing and use. It also helps restore the wood’s appearance when it begins to look faded or dry. It can be used for both the regular care of a cutting board and the maintenance of a natural wood knife handle.

To apply, place a small amount of oil on a clean, completely dry surface, then spread it evenly with a cloth. Allow the wood to absorb the oil before wiping off any excess. Reapply when the wood begins to look dry.

For Japanese knife handles, the oil is intended solely for the wooden parts. It does not replace blade maintenance and should not be considered a protection against corrosion of reactive steels.
