Craftsman: Kameshima Seitojo

Product Type: BBQ

*IMPORTANT: Each BBQ is sold with 1.5kg of Kishu-Binchotan Premium, Three skewers, a fan, and a pair of tongs. Mikawayaki Konro is a type of Shichirin in Aichi Prefecture. Shichirin and Konro are different only in name, and they have the same purpose and shape. Konro production increased because Mikawa clay from Aichi Prefecture was used along with clay from Suzu City (Ishikawa Prefecture). However, currently, diatomaceous earth from Suzu City (Ishikawa Prefecture) is primarily used for Mikawayaki. Unlike Kiridashi Shichirin, Mikawayaki Konro uses kneaded diatomaceous earth, but many Mikawa stoves are colorfully painted or compacted to be placed on a table in a restaurant or used in a Ryokan (classic Japanese hotel).

The Komon BBQ Konro teppan grill brings the precision of Japanese tabletop cooking directly to your dining experience — its flat grilling surface makes it equally suited for searing meats, fish, or vegetables with the consistent, radiant heat that only Kishu-Binchotan charcoal provides. As a japanese teppan grill built for both home and hospitality settings, it pairs authentic craftsmanship with everyday practicality. Those seeking a japanese bbq griddle grill for yakitori nights or intimate table-side meals will find this format particularly compelling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a konro and a shichirin?

None in terms of use: only the name changes. Konro and shichirin refer to the same type of charcoal stove, with the same purpose and shape. The term varies depending on the region of Japan, and in the Mikawa region, people are more likely to use the term konro. This Kameshima Seitojo model belongs to the Mikawayaki family, a type of shichirin from Aichi Prefecture made of molded diatomaceous earth rather than carved from a single block.

Does this konro grill come with charcoal?

Yes. This konro is sold with 1.5 kg of Premium Kishu Binchotan, three 420 mm skewer picks and a pair of tongs. You can therefore start cooking right away upon delivery. Binchotan charcoal is particularly well suited to this type of grill: it burns for a long time, at a high temperature and with little smoke, allowing you to sear skewers and small pieces while preserving the flavor of the ingredients. Simply keep a supply of charcoal for subsequent cooking.
