The White Natsuya is a natural Japanese stone from Natsuya. Its pale gray to white surface features inclusions, mineral lines, and variations unique to this specimen. The sawn edges and slightly irregular contours reflect its construction from a block of natural stone. Dimensions, profile, and color may vary from piece to piece.
This stone is intended for sharpening. It can be used as an intermediate step in a sharpening process to smooth out marks left by a more abrasive stone or to prepare the surface for finer polishing. Its performance depends largely on the type of steel, the pressure applied, and the amount of water used.
The sharpening experience with a natural stone is less consistent than with a synthetic stone. The tactile feedback, the formation of abrasive slurry, and the resulting finish may change as you work. This variability allows you to adjust the pressure but requires closer observation. The stone is not intended for quickly restoring a significant chip or a severely damaged blade.
No pre-soaking is required. Simply moisten the surface before and during use, then rinse the stone and let it dry slowly in the open air. Avoid complete submersion, direct heat, and freezing. The surface can be periodically flattened with a suitable plate to maintain consistent contact with the bevel.
