The very limited series of Hatsukokoro ''Katana Jihada'' is forged and ground entirely by Takahiro Nihei. Nihei-San apprenticed at the renowned Yoshikane forge under the supervision of Kazuomi Yamamoto.
He is now widely recognized in the forging industry, collaborating with well-known brands such as Konosuke and Hatsukokoro.
The term Jihada, part of the lexicon surrounding katana forging, refers to the visible patterns on the steel surface resulting from hammering and bending during construction. To bring out these subtle patterns, a refined and complete mastery of the art of polishing is required. Few grinders on the planet put in the effort required to reach this level.
The wave patterns visible through the kasumi finish created during the bending of the steel when constructing the billet for the Hagane are very subtle and are difficult to see in pictures.
