The HI-CONDITION Hanpu roll is designed to carry and organize up to six Japanese knives. Crafted in Tokyo by Yuji Osada, it is made of green hanpu canvas with a natural canvas interior and individually sewn pockets. It weighs approximately 400 g.
HI-CONDITION is based in Asakusabashi, in the Taito Ward, an area historically associated with textile and leather artisans. The brand works with a network of artisans to preserve this local craftsmanship through clothing, bags, kitchen accessories, and everyday objects.
The roll closes with two black elastic cords attached to metal grommets. Once rolled up, it forms a compact package suitable for travel between home, cooking school, and the workplace. HI-CONDITION labels sewn on the outside and inside highlight its Japanese origins.
The six pockets allow you to separate knives of different sizes. Since the canvas remains flexible, each blade must be fitted with a saya or blade guard before storage. The roll primarily protects against contact and scratches, but does not replace a rigid sheath against significant impacts.
For maintenance, remove all knives and clean the marked areas with a slightly damp cloth. Allow it to air dry completely before rolling up or storing the case. Never place a wet knife inside it.
