This Hitohira cutting board is made from hinoki (Japanese cypress), a wood known for its lightness and smoothness against knife blades. Measuring 390 mm x 240 mm x 13 mm, it offers a generous work surface while remaining easy to handle and store, ideal even in smaller kitchens. Its slim design also makes it a practical choice for travel, whether for a picnic or a camping trip.

A rotating rosewood stand is integrated into the board. This ingenious detail allows it to be stored upright for even drying and easy storage, while adding a refined aesthetic touch. The discreet inscription in the corner is a testament to the care taken in its craftsmanship.

Hinoki, a soft and slightly fragrant wood, is particularly appreciated for its protective effect on Japanese knives. Unlike bamboo or hardwood boards, it preserves the cutting edge and reduces wear and tear during repeated cutting.

For maintenance, it is recommended to lightly moisten the surface before use to limit the absorption of strong odors such as garlic or onion. Regular oiling helps to preserve the durability of the wood, while gentle hand washing and vertical drying will prolong its longevity.

Maintenance tips

Have it sharpened on a water stone by a professional every year. Store in a dry place. Wash immediately after use and dry completely before storing. Do not let soak. Not dishwasher safe.

Product notes

Please note that each handle is unique and may have distinct variations, such as differences in shades or colors in the buffalo horn, which is part of its authentic and handcrafted character.

Guarantee

Every knife carries a lifetime warranty against obvious manufacturing issues. For example, if the handle peels or cracks after a few weeks of proper use. Or if the blade develops a crack from the edge to the spine. These issues are rare, but can occur. In such cases, you will be offered an exchange for the same product or a refund. Since each case is different, it is at our discretion to assess whether our lifetime warranty against obvious manufacturing issues applies.
