Shiro Kamo-san was born into a family of blacksmiths and knew from an early age that he would one day take over the family business, as many days of his childhood were spent hanging out in his father Toukichi Kamo’s shop. In 1993, he helped found the Takefu Knife Village, a region known worldwide for its knife production and was appointed president of the Takefu Knife Village in 2010. He has since left this position but now works as president of the Echizen Blacksmith Foundation.
